Steak & …. Day (If you know you know)

Did your partner pull out all the stops for Valentine’s Day last month? Well, March the 14th is your chance to repay them with Steak &… Day (if you know, you know).

We asked our Venue chefs for their top tips on how to cook the perfect steak, or if you’d rather eat out, we have some great suggestions for date night steaks.

  • Choose the right cut: Different cuts of steak require different cooking times and methods. Ribeye, New York strip and tenderloin are some of the most popular cuts, but each one has a unique texture and flavour. So, choose the right cut based on your preference.
  • Bring it to room temperature: Before cooking, take your steak out of the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. This allows the meat to cook more evenly.
  • Season it well: A good steak doesn’t need much seasoning, but make sure to sprinkle salt and pepper generously on both sides before cooking.
  • Get the pan hot: Heat a cast-iron skillet over high heat until it’s smoking hot. This creates a delicious crust on the steak.
  • Sear the steak: Place the steak in the hot skillet and sear it for about 2-3 minutes on each side until a brown crust forms.
  • Use a thermometer: For the perfect steak, it’s important to cook it to the right temperature. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. For medium-rare, aim for 130-135°F (54-57°C).
  • Rest it: After cooking, let the steak rest for a few minutes to allow the juices to distribute evenly throughout the meat.

By following these tips, you can cook a mouth-watering steak that’s juicy and full of flavour.

But if cooking is not your forte, here are some great recommendations for date night steaks…
